Do you think we're suicidal? No man, we're just ordinary, everyday thrill-seekers. We're having fun out there. Some unfortunates end up disintegrated in your radiator or glued to your windscreen, true – the old and careless or the newbies who don't know the ropes.
But when you think how many of us are out there surfing, proportionately the casualties are, like, infinitesimal. I have been doing this most of my (admittedly short) life. And look: not a scratch on me.
Get it right and you will skim over the surface of that massive angry-ugly onrushing object, screaming hallelujah, your wingtips caressing the shiny metal beneath you. Get it wrong and you're history – but not this kid, baby – and then on the other side you're sucked into a blasting tailwind that catapults you to hell and back.
This is when I personally like to do a triple somersault with 4 1/2 twists in the free position. Or why not my signature double cantilevered Lutz spin before sliding into indescribable calm and silence as the dopamine juices my soul with bliss and tranquillity. Believe me: Windshield surfing is as good as it gets.
